My Story

The Man Behind the Madness

Morgan Loebel has a unique talent for creating disturbingly realistic mutated art forms. He has transformed everyday items like smartphone covers, books and switchplates into bizarrely morphed human anatomy and biomechanical sculptures. With over 20 years experience as a dental lab technician, he mastered mimicking lifelike textures and details of human skin, using his expertise to craft stunningly realistic art pieces.

Shifting Gears
In late 2010, Loebel left his dental career to become a freelace graphic designer.  He connected with the Stan Winston School (SWS), where he created graphics for their platforms and admired the work of special effects legend Stan Winston. Morgan held a great level of admiration for the late Stan Winston; a four-time Academy Awards winner and American television and film special make-up effects creator. Morgans experience with SWS was instrumental in carving out a new path.

A Test of Will
In 2012, Loebel was diagnosed with cancer, which effected his ability to do graphic design, staring into a computer monitor was intolerable and was forced to abandon graphic design work. Turning to polymer clay as a therapeutic outlet, he combined his knowledge from SWS with his dental skills to create intricate sculptures. This led to the birth of Morgans Mutations.

The Method
Loebel's art emphasizes realism and atttention to detail, influenced by his background as a dental technician. He uses materials like polymer clay, resin, and acrylics to craft his beautifully macabre creations. His inventory and techniques continue to evolve, pushing the boundaries of contemporary sculpture.
